Semantics: language, society and culture

The purpose of this master class is to provide an overview of sociolinguistics and related areas. Topics, such as language and culture or social categories and culture are part of the larger study of language and society. We will also discuss the factors that determine or influence second language acquisition with special emphasis on the key concept in second language acquisition, which is communicative competence.
